Tracking changes during development FP 2003?

E

Eric G

Hello,

A quick question:

Is there, in FP 2003 or through a 3rd-party product, possible to track
changes and/or additions during the development and maintenance of a FP
site?

Personally, I make a full copy of the altered site after each day of
development or maintenance, and then I rename the backup to include the a
date. Even though the procedure works, there is no way of really following,
or tracking, the progress.

Best regards,

Hi Eric,

You can use the lite weight check in / out features to do some tracking otherwise your only means would be to manually mark up the
HTML with a comment section.
<!-- Modified by Description -->
<!-- MDC Change link color -->

You can then optimize the HTML when published to remove the comments.

Hi Mike,

Yes, you're obviously right, with manual mark up I can add comments, but I
was thinking more of some kind of "revision sytem", whereby I can follow the
progress in, if I may call it that, an automated mode, a bit like in Word.

It's not important as such, but it would be very helpful with a revsion
feature, through which you could follow the progress of development in a
site. Maybe, some day ...

I appreciate you reply, thank you.
