Tracked Changes

Gary Thomson

Hello there,

Was not sure which topic to put this under, so plumped for
this one in any case...

I received a document from an external source last week,
which was a DRAFT document.

Earlier today, I received the FINAL report from the same
source, which obviously has had a number of changes made
to it.

What I would like is for all the changes from the DRAFT to
the FINAL report to be highlighted (i.e. tracked).

I contacted the company in question, who will not issue me
with a tracked changes version (for reasons I will not go
into - but basically they are fudging various elements of
the report which they do not want detected).

Is there any way, using the DRAFT and FINAL documents that
I have in my possession, to somehow get any changes that
have been made highlighted (perhaps on a section by
section basis, or otherwise???)

Many thanks for your help,

Gary Thomson.

Hi Gary

You can compare documents in Word - the results aren't perfect, but will
probably be sufficient for this purpose.

You don't say which version of Word you are using - for 2002/2003 use Tools
Compare and Merge. Earlier than that it's under the Tools > Track Changes
submenu IIRC.
