touchpad no longer works after automatic update

a while ago a program was installed with window update. The application
presented a window for handwriting ... maybe Vista thought my Desktop
computer was a handheld device? well i disabled that application and ever
since it was installed, my touchpad (which is integrated with my keyboard
and has its own PS2 plug) does not work. It does show up in a list of
devices though saying 'functionin properly'

mother, may i have my touchpad back?

trouble

Presumably this is a USB device.
Have you tried uninstalling the drivers, unplugging the keyboard, rebooting
and reinstalling?
That is the eternal Windows mantra for sudden driver/hardware problems.
Alternatively, try to use System restore to go to a point prior to where the
problem occurred, presuming System Restore actually saved usable restore
points, which is too often not the case.

i forgot to mention that i also use a USB mouse primarily. The PS2 touchpad
comes in handy and i want it back

If it happened to me, I would re-enable that application and then just not
use it.

hey. thanks for the reply but
A. the application is installed, it is Tablet PC... i WISH i could
uninstall it but i had to do some quick hack to disable it because it forced
a stupid palette/window on the screen and a stupider keyboard on the logon
screen
B. Tablet PC is in the control panel but not in Programs and Features, nor
is it in the Windows Features... i think it is actually running------ yes i
saw it in Services and i JUST NOW disasbled it there... let me reboot and
see.......

thanks
