Start > Run and enter cleanmgr
Or
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup

I downloaded a freeware program called Ccleaner at
http://www.filehippo.com/

The first time I ran it on a new-to-me computer, it cleaned out 60+ Mb
of garbage.

I also burn CD's of my photos so they don't eat up hard drive space.

And lastly when I was on a small hard drive, I gave up some programs,
sigh...............
