Tooltips are annoying

Whenever I roll my mouse over any button, icon, filename,
picture, ANYTHING on my desktop or in a window or in an
application, etc., I get a little yellow sticky-note
popup (otherwise known as a "tooltip"). These are VERY
ANNOYING because they tend to cover over things I am
trying to read. Several people have helped me turn them
off here and there, but I'd like to be able to turn them
off ENTIRELY for all apps throughout Windows. There
needs to be a Control Panel option to customize Windows
and turn off tooltips. Does anybody know someone
important enough at Microsoft to be able to suggest they
put this change into the next release of Windows?

I talked to Bill this afternoon and he said he agrees with you. In fact,
he wrote the code after lunch and by osmotic internet protocol 11a4, it
will find itself on every XP machine by nightfall. You will have to go to
Folder Options in the Control Panel, View, Advanced, and deselect the box
that says "show popups etc." Bill says he's sorry that he didn't think of
it. In fact, he will post these changes in Google Groups today so that
all you have to do is type in "xp tooltips" and everyone will know. Bill
says thanks and for pointing this out, he has added you to his Christmas
party list. Keep and eye on your email.

The party should have been on the second Tuesday of next week. Valet
parking was available for a buck two fifty.
