I am using IE6 with XP. I have a number of accounts set up, but I would
like to take away the ability of certain users to modify Tools>Internet
Options particularly security and privacy settings. Can I do this for
individual users? Can I do this for all users?

Thanks!

You need to perform a registry edit. Navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions

Set the value of NoBrowserOptions to 1, which will remove the Internet
Options from the Tools menu.

Thank you! I'll do that, but does that give me the options to change them if
I need to? How would I do that? Does it affect all users or only those who
have limited accounts?

I made the change on the account with "computer administrator" privileges
and the change took effect.

However, the change didn't take effect when I proceeded to log on as one of
my limited accounts. When I ran regedit logged on as one of the limited
accounts, I couldn't add any keys under the HKEY>SOFTWARE>POLICIES>MICROSOFT
level. I received an error message saying I couldn't add a key to this
level (there wasn't one already).

One of my "limited users" is changing the internet options and I want to
prevent him from doing so.

I believe I'm almost there, but . . .

Any more ideas?

Make the change in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions

Please respond in Newsgroup. Do not send email

BTW, the registry restrictions may be overridden by the user ;)

The user can still invoke Internet Options thru Control Panel, or from RUN box "CONTROL INETCPL.CPL"

Did that too. Any other suggestions?
