Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Calendar : how to configure

I am trying to determine how to configure the following setting in
IE6:
Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Calendar

especially in the case of a non-Microsoft Calendar application. My
ultimate goal is the implementation of a handler for iCalendar (iCal,
type .ics) calendar events. I have the handler developed already, but
I am having difficulty reliably associating the file type with my
application.

I have done the standard hard-coded association by using the Tools >
Folder Options > File Types configuration which is accessed from
within a standard Windows folder.

My environment: Windows 2000 desktop, IE 6.00.2800.1106CO

My target calendar is Lotus Notes. Like I said, my custom utility
works, but only if the file extension mapping is correctly set. The
problem is that it works on some workstations, but not on others. Our
environment at my company is forced into a fairly consistent
configuration; i.e., most users have the same version of IE and are
up-to-date on Windows patches, etc.

I would appreciate any assistance!

Thanks, PA Bear. That document does appear to address the issue. I
should have mentioned in my original post that I attempted this. I
suspect there are pieces that I am missing (perhaps some knowledge
that the MS documentation is assuming that I have), but adding the key
and the executable to the registry had no visible effect on the
Calendar drop-down in IE options.

The "E-mail" program option has a couple of applications listed. I
searched through a back-up of the registry for how those applications
are defined in the registry, and they are listed there in numerous
places. So I am guessing that maybe there is another entry or two
that needs to be defined in the registry in order to cause the
drop-down to list my program.

Thanks again for your prompt suggestion.
