Hi...

My toobars in Outlook 2007 has gone crazy.
I'd even lost the most needed one.
There is a toolbar called "web" multiplying every time I start up the
program.
look at this:

I have experienced the same thing sometime in the past but then in Excel,
and if my memory serves me right, the perpetrator was an add-on. Once this
add-on was removed I managed to reconstruct the toolbar area.

How do I manage add-ons and plug-ins in Outlook 2007?

I am running a Norwegian edition of Microsoft Office 2007 Standard edition
on a Windows Vista Ultimate self-built monster.

Add-ins and COMS are in Tools > Options. I'm not using 2007 yet so I would
check the Other Tab > Advanced Options. Not sure if that's the same in
Outlook 2007 or not.
You may want to reset your toolbars as well by closing Outlook, renaming the
outcmd.dat file, and then opening Outlook to see if that has any effect.
Note the outcmd.dat file is hidden so you'll either want to search using the
advanced option of looking through hidden files and folders, or enable hidden
files and folders (and file extensioons for known file types) using Windows
Explorer. Change your view to details and then go to Tools > Options > View.
Make sure you also set all folders to view the same way.
Good luck, let me know how it turns out.

Hi K.O.

I've tried to get to this "outcmd.dat" file, but my Vista won't let me...

I do not seem to get my self to be the owner of this particular folder where
the mentioned file is residing.
I have found it, but I cannot rename or delete it.

How can I boot on as the administrator in Vista.
Have heard rumors stating that this is impossible.

Hi ...

I just fired up the explorer, and pressed F3 and searched for the outcmd.dat
file while enabling search for hidden and system files.
Then I right clicked and renamed it.
No problem so far.
Fired up OL 2007 and my toolbar was restored.

I am happy now.

The administrator account in Vista is disabled by default as far as I know. I
think it's something you have to enable during the install but since I
haven't installed Vista yet, I'm not completely sure. However I did find this
for you:

According to this:
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsvistasecurity/default.aspx

"On non-domain joined computers, when there is at least one enabled
local administrator account, safe mode will not allow logon with the
disabled built-in administrator account. Instead, any local
administrator account can be used to logon. If the last local
administrator account is inadvertently demoted, disabled or deleted,
safe mode will allow the disabled built-in administrator account to
logon for disaster recovery."

So if I read this correctly, you can go into Safe Mode and log in
with the built-in Administrator account which will be enabled for this
session only.
