Toolbar resets instead of staying after restart...

David

I have set my toolbar in my folders for a week now because
everytime I restart my computer, it goes back to the way
it was when I got the computer. Why is this happening? Why
won't it save my settings? It also does it with Internet
Explorer. Please help me solve this. Thanks.

Just a thought, you may want to update your virus
software. If you do not have anti virus you may want to
check for free downloadable software I know that there are
several good ones there, take time and do some searches.

There was a trojan that was just a pain and some juvenile
people found it funny to send it to "friends", it would
reset your settings ..

you can do a free online virus / trogan scan at
www.symantec.com

Which toolbar, David? Are you perhaps speaking of the status bar? If so:

Go to Windows Explorer/View/Status Bar. Then go to Tools/Folder
Options/View/Apply to all folders. Works for IE as well.

For Folder Views:

Windows remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some
settings aren't retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding
this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)

If none of this applies:

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
