Lupin III.
First of all: I use the german version of Windows XP so I don't know the exact english names of some items, but I hope it will still be clear what's my problem.
Actually there are several problems:
First the Quicklaunch bar. I have already read about "vanished" Quicklaunch bars, but I have the phenomenon that single icons disappear. If I open explorer and go to default Folder, where the shortcuts are saved (documents and settings/...../microsoft/internet explorer/quicklaunch), the icons are there, but the quicklaunch bar right above my taskbar does not show all of them. After closing the toolbar and then adding it again, all icons are there.
Another problem appears, when I drag a file from an Explorer Window onto one of these symbols e.g. a texteditor. This sometimes opens another program in the Quicklaunch bar (for example the webbrowser) with the dragged file as parameter. This even happens, if all the icons are still visible, so does not to related with the previous problem (at least not directly). But the solution is the same: remove the bar and add it again.
Third Problem: I have also dragged "My Computer" to the toolbar, to have quick access to all drives. But often for no reason the icons change place (sometimes inserting a CD, which changes the drive icon, causes this, too). So the icon order can look somthing like this: E, F, H, C, Systemcontrol, D. As I don't want to show the text of the icons (this uses to much space) and three of the drives are harddisks which have the same icon, it's quite annoying to search for the right one. What even adds more annoyance to it, is that Windows XP doesn't show the driveletter of a harddisk in the popupinformation, only the used and total diskspace, which even makes it harder to find the right icon and reduces the usefulness of the bar to nearly nil as soon as the icons get mixed up. The solution, guess what, is to remove and add the bar again.
So does anybody know, how to solve even one of these problems?
And can I somehow change the popupinformation of a Harddisk?
Can I may use a desktop.ini file to change some of the folder settings?
Btw. Many thanks to Microsoft, who removed the "refresh" entry in the toolbar-context-menue like it was in older Windows versions, that could maybe solve all of the above bugs.
Many thanks (this time real) in advance
Lupin
