Toolbar on desktop

I have a user who had a small "toolbar" of sorts that was on the desktop, and
it had small icons for the desktop items, ie, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
She somehow deleted this, and I don't know how to restore it. Can someone
please point me in the right direction?

This sounds like it might be the Office Shortcut Bar. Try going to Start
Programs > Microsoft Office Tools and clicking on Microsoft Office
