Tool for mass changes to categories?

Hi. My company has thousands of contacts in our public contacts folder
and we need to make some changes to the categories for all of the
contacts. We need to consolidate some of the categories and change
some others. It would take months to open each contact and make the
changes individually.

Is there an automated tool for making mass changes to categories?

Set your view to "By Category" then you can drag and drop groups (even
large groups) of items from one category to another.

That is a great technique for adding a new category to a bunch of
contacts! Thank you.

Unfortunately it does not remove the old category though!

I assume you're referring to the drag/drop solution. If so you could
always drag/drop to the "NONE" category first. Then drag/drop to the new
category.
