too much space beween separator line and footnotes? how correct?

IN A DOCUMENT I HAVE ONE 1 PAGE A BIG SPACE BETWEEN THE SEPARATOR LINE AND
THE TEXT OF THE FOOTNOTES. HOW CAN I CORRECT IT?

I WORK WITH WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL EDITION WITH SP1 AND OFFICE 2003

First, please turn off your caps lock. It is considered shouting and is
very hard to read.

A "document" is a Microsoft Word term. You are posting to a Microsoft
Access newsgroup, not a Word newsgroup.

Please repost to a Word newsgroup. Or, better yet, use the help files to
try to locate the answer.

You have posted this message to the wrong newsgroup. The access in
this groups name refers to Microsoft Access, a database program.

Please repost to the correct newsgroup for Word.
