Hi,
This is my first post on this forum. Thnaks for your help.
I have bought a new Dell dual core (OS XP Media Center) desktop with 4Gb RAM
and 500Gb HDD. There is no additional soft installed yet except standard
package installed by Dell.
I hear regularly and frequently small disk access, even if the only thing I
do is moving the mouse in the explorer.
Is this normal behaviour with 4Gb RAM?
Is there a way to investigate this?
Many thanks

Erick

Windows has many, many housekeeping chores going on at all times. Most
programs on the taskbar or notification area are there for a reason -
checking web locations or other duties. It is probably this activity you are
seeing. There is also (if you have enabled it) the cataloging process which
helps processes to access the files on your hard drive. When you are not
doing "anything", these processes run.

Thanks for your answer. The cataloging process you are talking about could be
the reason. How can I desactivate this program? How does it name?
