too many programs running at start up

i have too many programs running at my start up, says a
tech web site for another program. i have windows 2000
and would like to reduce the ones i don't need. any help?

Use registry to edit:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

i found this, when i open the run file i dont see ant
program to change.
