Too many pictures backed up!

When I open a picture, my system automatically saves the
picture as "Copy 1 of----" or "Copy 10 of----" etc.
This also happens when I try to delete the extra copies
of the pictures. In some instances I have 30 copies of
the same picture and I cannot delete any of them. I want
to keep the original picture and have the option of
saving another copy when I want to --- not everytime I
access a picture. Can anyone help?

Probably because you are holding the Ctrl key down and dragging files with
your mouse instead of just clicking on them.
When you have the Ctrl key down you click on the file you want, remove your
finger from your mouse button, move the pointer to the next file and click
on it, remove your finger......
