too many crosstab column headers ??? help

I am setting up a crosstab query and am doing everything the wizard is asking
me to do, but l'm getting the following error, too many crosstab column
headers. It's supposed to be a simple crosstab query but l'm running into
problems.

Please help if you can.

A crosstab basically returns as many columns as you have unique values in a
particular row. If you have more than 255 unique values then you cannot do
it with one crosstab because 255 is the limit on the number of columns in a
table or query.
