tony teows FE updater issue

Hi, i am using tony teows FE updater (thanks very much tony) which is
excellent and am using in 2 different circumstances.

my BE is located on a server and front ends are on each of the local pc's
and also secondly on a terminal server for users of a remote location to use.
(the terminal server hosts a front end and is connected to the back end on
the mian server)

the FE updater is working great on the terminal server but doesnt seem to
want to work on the local pc's connected to the man server.

i hope this makes sense. i have checked ther error messages on tony's site
but cant seem to work out how to fix it. t he error is Null command line
prompt sent to utility.

Thanks for your kind comments. It does have some issues though.

Note that you will probably want to sets of INI files and shortcuts.
One for the Terminal Server setup and one for the local PCs.

How are your users starting up the utility? The first install needs
to happen by the user clicking on a shortcut or .cmd/.bat file on a
server folder somewhere. Then the Auto FE Updater can create the
shortcuts on the local system such as on the desktop, quick launch or
All Programs menu.

if you used an Access Data Project; you wouldn't have to worry about
much of this maintenance

you don't need to copy tables / queries around-- just keep all your
queries / tables in ONE PLACE- ON THE DATABASE SERVER

syncing FORMS / REPORTS is easy.

Hi tony,

i have created 2 sets of files, but the path name is the same
(server/encoredatasource/v5_be.mdb)

we have accesses the ini file from the local pc tot he server and it has
created the short cut on the local pc desktop, but when the shortcut icon is
clicked the error is given.

i did exactly the same on the t server and it worked great, i have tested it
at home and again it works great, i just cant seem to figure it out.

any idea would be greatly appreciated.

you got permissions to the INI files?

I just swear; keeping all your tables / queries / views / sprocs in ONE
PLACE- on a DATABASE SERVER -- is infinitely more simple
