Dear All,
Our SMS 2003 setup is: In the same instance of SQL 2005, SMS 2003, Symantec
Endpoint server and OCS are running with around 600 clients Additional one
distribution point (workstation) is connected. The primary site server is for
all general 5 roles including a DP.

Currently we are using SMS 2003 for PAtch pushing, some of applications
packages created and distributed, and for inventory purpose

We want to migrate to SCCM 2007 as fresh & clean installation on the same
existing server, with all the existing clients to move safely.

What are the precautions/ pre requirement to do. Any additional user a/c s
to create? How to take backup & restore of the existing Patches and Package/
programs Kindly suggest the step by step process.

I have in mind to follow the below process, let me know whether it is OK:
1 - In SMS2003 create an advertisement that runs ccmclean (from the toolkit)
on all advanced client, to remove the SMS client
2 - Uninstall SMS2003
3 - remove the SMS.DAT and .log files after taking backup ( just for safety
purpose)
4 - Install SCCM 2007 pointing the SQL's earlier Instance
5 - Create boundaries in SCCM
6 - Discover the clients from SCCM
7 - Push SCCM Clients
8 - test all the functionalities of SCCM

Please suggest anything more or corrections to be done.

While uninstalling SMS 2003 will it uninstall SQL also, will it affect other
running applications?

Requesting for a detailed step by step precess to follow for clean
installation.
Expecting your reply.
