To SharonF at eteMVPS re Tooltips

Thanks for responding. You said: "There's no one place
to turn off all of the tooltips...Many applications have
settings ... that control the display of tooltips within
that program." True, and turning off tooltips one
application at a time would be ludicrous.

Having been a computer programmer for over 20 years I can
guess that all app tooltips are ultimately displayed on
the screen by one common function, that is tied to the
movement of the mouse. This routine is buried deep in a
DLL, no doubt, and is not accessible to the developers of
the individual apps. It would be nice if Microsoft would
incorporate a flag in that function that could be turned
on or off somewhere in the Control Panel. That way with
the click of one checkbox, ALL tooltips could be turned
off quite simply.

If you could request such a change to the "Caretaker of
the PasteTooltipToScreen Function" I would be forever
indebted to you!

Ah, Charlie - I use those tooltips in my graphics programs. Rely on them
even. And <gasp> have finally become accustomed to those folder content
tooltips and find them to be quite handy. ;)

Do we even need to wonder what would happen if MS messes around with this
and stops tool tips in software from other companies? Still, one check box
would be nice for those that don't want their hand held every step of the
way (leave the individual ones in too, please!).

I will make the suggestion but so can you. MS doesn't listen to me any more
or less than they do to you. Response to these suggestions has made its way
to the operating system in the past. "Sort order" available in the Start
Menu is one example that evolved from customer suggestions.
