to set another media player

A virus caused problems in my win mediaplayer and my internet explorer, so
these programs can not operate well. For example I get the following message
"Can not create DirektShow Player" when I would like to watch a video, or i
want to start the program.
How can I change the default video player in Opera 7?

/I tried to re-setup the mediaplayer and internet explorer, but it was
unsuccessful, so I have to use another browser (Opera 7) and another
mediaplayer./

Yes, I have directX 9.c.
I think I should try to re-install service pack 2. Maybe it can improve that
situation.
