I like to use the Image editor that came with W95 Resource Kit Tools.
The entire contents are amazingly still available from :
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Services/TechNet/samples/ps/WIN95/RESKIT/
All the files from this directory are needed. Use Add/Remove programmes/
Windows setup/ have disk ...
Image editor Works with 98se

This can make a 32x32 16 colour icon, cursor or bitmap with transparency
if wanted, and this can be converted to 24bit using good old Irfanview.
The w95 Resource kit also contains an animated cursor editor, though I
haven't played with it.

Thanks It installed with no problem on my 98Se machine. Another new
toy. By the way, your reply showed up for me, but my original post
never did. Strange. I hope I haven't accidentally killfiled myself.
I don't even really know how to do that. Using Thunderbird.

Perhaps your news server is having a senior moment?
