There is an error in your reply - please read my comment again.
If somebody does not know about restore points, how the hell can they
create one.
If the poster does know about them, we still don't know if one was created
or not.
On the other hand some progs on install auto create a restore point.
Until the poster comes back, we will not know.

Dear Kelly or other experts,
I have used a few tweaks from your site that work wonderfully.
But I installed a tweak that wasn't what I thought it was.
Can you "please, please" email me VBS tweak to reverse it.
My computer now show .lnk after evry disk top icon etc.
The name of the tweak was "ShowHiddenexts".

Line 127 right side (where you got it) has an Undo.

If you go to the tweaks page at kellys site and find the script you installed
will find that their are two scripts on that line the last one is UNDO, which
is what you want.

The following reg file will hide the extension:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile]
"NeverShowExt"=""

and this one shows it:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile]
"AlwaysShowExt"=""

What happens when they fight it out?
On my machine, unchecked for "Hide extensions for known file
types", "AlwaysShowExt" has no effect if "NeverShowExt" is
present and is not needed if it is absent.

But to clarify, when checked for "Hide extensions for known file
types", "AlwaysShowExt" is effective as an override. Now, to
manage this setting there is a GUI ( Cpl - Folder Options - File
Types - (Registered File Type) - Advanced - Always show extension ).

No GUI for "NeverShowExt" that i know about, hence the need for
3rd party tweeks as the one at Kelly's Corner to avoid editing
the registry directly.

I read your first comment about ten times before it sunk in.

One time I selected the 'always show extensions' and had the lnk
on all of my shortcuts. I just forgot how I did it.
