One of my users is getting flooded with .tmp files when she logs on to her computer. Apparently there was a problem with .tmp files filling up in other places and one of the other techs did a search for *tmp and trashed all the files. All the files say Shortcut to copy of df2b**.tmp .ink (*being various letter and number combinations). I'm guessing the folder they used to go to isnt there any more so its been pointed to the desktop. The user also said they'd pop up out of nowhere even after startup. Anyone know what this is all about?

This is probably caused by some spyware. Download and run AdAware.

I assume you mean tmp.lnk files. This is not normal links to tmp files hmmm. I would go to the location of where they are linking to and open the linked to file in Notepad. Likely binary data but sometimes it is enough to figure out what is going on.
