I use a laptop running Windows XP on my company's network. Occasionally, I
will log in to a desktop machine. Often, when I subsequently log back on to
my laptop, the settings will revert to some earlier date. I have also
noticed that synchronization problems often occur when tmp files begin
appearing in my Recycle Bin during the day. I sometimes go and delete them,
but, within a few hours, a new tmp file will have appeared. Any ideas?

Hi Jon,
Try this go to Start - Run ,type in the run box cmd and press Enter,
in the command prompt type ipconfig/flushdns and press Enter, then you will
get the message that your Cache being successfully flushed, type Exit and
Reboot.
try to clear your history in the IE properties and delete all files and
subfiles and cockies, and do Scan for Adware on your system.
Hope that helps
good luck
