Timing music with slides

Am putting together a powerpoint show with pictures and
music. If I have 100 pictures I group them in categories,
then I have a song play for each group. I time the group,
edit the music file to match the length of the group then
fade the end of the music track so it does not end
abruptly with the last slide in the group. The timing of
the last slide within the group to the music changes. It
can be perfect one time and either long or short the next
time. What is the best way to go about making sure the
last slide in the group matches the fading of the music?

AFAIK, there is no way to get the timing "just right." PP is not the
best time coordinator. Performance is a function of the hardware
capability, the PP version, and what objects are already in PP's cache
when a slide show is run.
