Timecode in excel

I am trying to subtract the timecode in one column from
the time code int another column. Then I need to sum the
results.
example:
02:01:16:00-02:01:00:00=00:00:16:00

What is 02:01:16:00?
You need to put these values in cells and then let the cells to the
calculation,
however 02:01:16:16 is seen as text by excel thus the value error,
you need to explain what the 02 is what the 01 is and what 16:00 is
Excels time format is hh:mm:ss If your value is hh:mm:ss and decimals of
seconds you need to use
hh:mm:ss.00 as format and enter it as 02:01:16.00.

You are correct in that 02 is hh, 01 is mm, 16 is ss and
00 is frames per second.

I have created a custom format (hh:mm:ss:ff) and applied
it to the cells. Then tried to do the calculation and I
am still recieving the #VALUE error message.

any ideas?
