So my computer Time and Date Properties says "An error
occoured getting the status of the last synchronization.
The RPC server is unavailable." It just flashes that
again when I press update now. I tried both servers,
time.windows.com and time.nist.gov. I have a DSL
connection and a D-link 704 router. I have norton
antivirus but no seperate firewall other than the windows
firewall. It's worked for several months with this
configuration until now

Hi Jeff,

In Control Panel, select Administrative Tools then Services shortcut and
scroll down to locate "Windows Time". Double-click on it or right-click on
it and select Properties. Ensure that Startup type is set to Automatic (use
drop-down picklist to select Automatic if necessary) and if the Service
status is "Stopped", click on the Start button, wait for it to start, then
click on OK.

Thanks for the response, those settings were all
correct at when I checked. Time Synchronization resumed
the following week even tho I changed nothing

You're welcome for the response. Glad to hear that it corrected itself (that
happens a lot with Windows).
