Time resets to 24 hour format

Several months ago, this started happening. John John helped to refer me to
Regional Settings so I could restore the time format to- hh:mm:ss:tt for
the normal 12 hour setting.

The format never changed in at least 5 years, But in the last few months,
at random times, the system time reverts to 24 hour format. Sometimes not
for several weeks, sometimes several days in a row. I do a daily cold boot
so notice it on startup.

I need to mention, this is a "quiet" machine, I rarely install anything,
use freeware. Run a safe cleaner on shutdown each night. I always browse to
same sites, javascript/images/cookies disabled, AV scans show nothing,
process utilities show nothing unusual. I resently ran the MS MSRT utility,
no issues. What I'm trying to say is IMO the time format problem is not
caused by malware.

I have run no apps that would effect system time, AFAIK.

What can be the cause of the format change and how to fix it?

After you reset it verify / check the settings here.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International\sTimeFormat

Here's a few that might do this.

Thanks, Dave.

I just checked the reg key, it is set to agree with the Time Setting in
Regional.

I will look into those web links. Of course, since I posted here, it
works fine. I would guess that if it is a worm, it would always be wrong
and couldn't be reset.
