Hi, i am hoping that someone will be able to help me. i have a new computer
and it has been set up, but i am noticing that when i turn it off and turn it
on next, the time and date settings dont remain.

eg. set the time, turn computer off, turn on the next day, time and date
settings gone.

it is screwing around with my antivirus as i download it from the net and it
records the release date.
the time and date settings are fine when the computer is on, but i cant
figure out what is happening when i turn it off.
Does anyone know what it is and/or how to fix it.
All help would be great.

If you are losing time when the computer is powered off, the problem is very
likely that the motherboard battery needs to be replaced. It's less common
for this to happen with a new computer, but it's not unknown.

thanks, would this be the only reason that it could be doing this and are
there any other signs that would confirm this is the problem?

It happens relatively rarely, but it could also be a problem with the
motherboard.

A new battery is very cheap--usually $2-4 US. If it were me, I'd just try
replacing it.
