Time lapse.

Can I combine digital still pictures into a time lapse
sequence (i.e. a flower opening)?
If so, how do I do it?

Hi Lars,

Yes you can.

1) Start Movie Maker and click on Tools > Options > Advanced

2) Edit the first entry down Picture Duration so that it is the time in seconds
you want each frame to last.

3) You may also want to edit the value for the default duration of any overlap
you might make between each frame.

4) When done click OK

This assumes you have already got a collection of still images in Movie Maker

5) Go to the collection of still images and drag the first one to the video
timeline.

6) Drag the second one to the time line and release it to the right hand side
of the first one.

7) Using the small plus sign located at the right hand side of the time line,
Zoom in as far as you can

8) Left Click and hold mouse button down whilst mouse is over second frame and
drag the clip slowly to the right such that the overlay is approximately the
same as the one you set in step 3 above.

9) Position the mouse over the left hand side of the slightly gray area just
below the video time line....this area shows you by how much the images are
overlapped.. When the cursor changes into a left hand bracket with a small
arrow in it hold down the left mouse button and move left or right until such
time as the info in the small pop up box matches the right duration of overlap.

It now gets real easy...

10) Return to your collection of images and select all of them except for those
two already mentioned.

11) While holding down the left mouse button drag all of the images down to the
video time line and with the cursor to the right of the other two images
release the mouse button. All of your images will now align themselves
according to the default setting made in steps 2 and 3 above.

And that's it !!! You can now add comentary to the project or music as desired.

Hope this helps....if you get stuck, just give us a shout :)
