whenever i change the time zone, from what it was set in the original OS
install, to my current zone & time all of a sudden the time changes sometimes
forward sometime back. my computer is not part of any domain, nor do i have
any type of time sync software installed. is this typical when changing the
original time zone & time??? any way to fix it permanently??

thank you

the time changes automatically to according to the change of time zone.
to set the correct time, first put your time zone, and then set the time.
Then , lets say that you you are in eastern time, and it 12:30 PM.
If you travel to california, you just change your timezone (not the clock)
and the time will automatically change to the correct local time (9:30 AM).
So yea, its normal, and therefore there.s no fix for it....... well, maybe
an option to change it, but I dont know about that.

thanks guillermo for info.

let me ask. i have heard that if the default times zone is set at set up,
lets say to pacific time, that you can only change the time zone once before
the clock starts acting up. however, if the time zone is set originally to
central time that counts as your one change. have you heard of this before??

also, based on your info, what if after you change time zones you also set
the clock. what will this do to the system??

Kevin-

You didn't mention if the computer was part of a domain, but I'll assume
that it is. ou should ensure that your Domain Controllers are set with the
correct time and time zone as the clients theoretically should be pulling
the time from the DC's to keep the time synchronized within the domain
structure.

Ken,

no computer not part of a domain, a simple workgroup with no time synch
software installed. it just seems to loose time when changing from one time
zone to another from the default time zone at time of install
