So if we update all of our workstations with the PDC for time and date every
4 hours, and we update the PDC and all servers, do we really need to mess
with all the workstations with the patch for DST?

When your workstations get the time from the server, how is the current
timezone info communicated? Does the workstation say "give me the time?" to
which the server responds "the current time is 2007-03-01 12:00:00
GMT-4:00"? And does the client then say "OK, setting my time to 12:00:00
GMT-4:00, but since I'm GMT-5:00 then I need to adjust to 11:00:00
GMT-5:00". Now the client matches the server based on GMT, but the visual
time on the machine will appear incorrect since the GMT offset is different.

In test I changed the date and time to 3/22/07 and the time moved. three
hours later the date and time were corrected back to today. I have a jr
network tech who thinks we need to do more but cannot tell me why. We do not
use outlook, and base our system times in our erp off the server it is
running on not the workstation so I do not see a risk at this point. I guess
I am looking to reassure my mind and why let someone mess with the
environment that seems to be working if you don't need to!

As I said, I suspect the display times will be wrong on the workstations as
they will be in a different timezone during the period between when the
server switches to daylight time and when the workstation switches to
daylight time. You'll have the same issue in the fall when the workstation
switches back to standard time but the server is still on daylight time.

I recommend you install the patch on the workstations. The daylight time
settings are stored in registry keys and all the patch does is update the
registry keys so that the system knows when daylight time starts and ends.

Or disable automatic adjustment to DST at the workstations.
