time a mouse button is held down

hi, i kno you can use hooks to tell when a mouse button is pressed
globally...bt how can you tell how long its been held down for? for example,
how would i see iof the mouse button was held down for 5 seconds?

Catch the mouse down, set the time (globaly)
Catch the mouse up subtract the current time from that time you have set.

I don't know another method.
