thumbvw failed error message

I cannot see thumbnail view on photos. I attempted several of the fixes in
these help threads to no avail. I am receiving the following error message
when I attempt to run 'regsvr32 thumbvw'

LoadLibrary("thumbvw")failed-The specified module could not be found.

Suggestions?

Yes. By the way, in my frustration I did not thank you for the quick
response(s). My VCR is still blinking "12:00" so bear with me. There is only
one folder of photos where the problem is occurring. I compared the settings
(using tools and folder options) with other files where the thumbnail view
works and saw nothing different.

LOL, I hear you! I can relate to the blinking.....yet would have welcomed
it during hurricane Gustav and Ike.

Hmm on the one folder. Show all via views and check the ini properties.
Other than that you could run: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

You may have thought I was kidding about the blinking VCR. What is the "ini
properties" reference? If I had a crayola I would use it to ask my
questions....

Nah, didn't think you were kidding at all. More items should have the smart
clock capabilities. It seems I am the only one it bothers when the clocks
are blinking 12:00. But then again, I have seen on more than one occasion
folks here spend 15 minutes looking for the missing remote instead of
manually changing the TV.

As for my reference, it was partly on a side note:

For reasons unknown, some users find that drives or system folders display
the wrong tasks relative to the folder contents. The C: drive may display
music tasks; The ‘My Music’ folder may display picture tasks, etc. While
user-created folders allow access to the ‘Customize’ tab in the ‘Properties’
dialog, drives and system folders do not give you this option.

Special Folders

Open the folder, right click the desktop.ini and open it in Notepad. Verify
these settings: Change the Owner Name

Like many things, what seems so elementary to some is totally baffling to
others. I appreciate your responses and attempts to help but being the total
computer illiterate it is like a foreign language to me.
What is a 'desktop ini'? Should I be looking for an icon of some sort?
Forgive the neophyte questions, maybe this repair is simply beyond my
capability.
