What is this file Thumbs.db that shows up all over the place?

Do I need it? Spyware? Virus?

Thumbs.db is a Windows XP data file in the folder where it is located. A
Thumbs.db file is created if you choose Thumbnail view. The file remains
even if your choose to change the view.

It is where Windows stores the information of your thumnail view icons. In
Windows explorer you have the option to show files as thumbnail, tiles,
icon, details etc. The thumbnail.db file appears when you have chosen
thumbnail view. It isn't spyware so there is no need to worry.

You don't need it, as it's only there thumbnail cache. It won't be
created if you DISABLE thumbnail caching in Folder Options, View.
