"This record set is not updatable"

Hi.

No, this is nothing to do with the previous post - just one of those strange
coincidences that have happened to me before.

In my case. I get the above message appearing momentarily at the bottom of
the Access screen when one of my mdbs opens.

This is a backup mdb that I've been doing a lot of work in - the main mdb
does not produce this problem, so I'm worried that when I copy in my
new/changed forms, reports etc, I will transfer the problem also. I've done a
compile and compact and repair. Also I've added and then removed a new record
from every form and subform that I can find, with no problems.

Has anyone any idea why this is happening and how I can identify where the
problem lies? I'm using access 2000 on XP, networked.

Any suggestions welcomed. JohnB

Hi.

I've fixed this myself. After much digging, it turned out to be an incorrect
modification that I'd made to a query which made the data non updatable.
This is the first time this has happened to me but I've often seen it posted
on the Discussion group. In future I'll check that I can change the
underlying data in a query after I make any changes.
