The 'number key' only allows you to install the applications, not activate:
you need to use on line Activation. Use Alt+F, I, then select Resources
button and Activate.

I cannot find tool. Where is tool menu.
pls help me.

I am having the same problem and I am not able to solve it.. I have window vista and word 2007, I just bought this laptop like 5 days ago.
this is wat it says This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked and when I go to Review and then to protect.. there is nothing there to unlock and everything is lite blue I can't even click on anything. I just found out I can't even send message from my outlook and can't use any new page on word. I guess it's locking everything. Please can someone help me.

PS: The only thing it says is to minimize the ribbon and it won't let me click on anything else.
Thank you

Assuming you have Word 2007, either you have not activated the product or it
is a trial version that has time expired.

It sounds like you're in a Protected doc. Go to Tools>Protection & see if
there is a command in the submenu that reads as "Unprotect Document". If you
attempt to remove the protection you may be prompted for a password.

If this isn't the issue be sure to specify version info when you respond.

I have an acer laptop- 3 months old- purchased from John Lewis with Office
already loaded and the same thing is happening suddenly. Can read but not
create or modify docs in power point and word 2007. cannot get into the
control bar to get anything to work. it keeps asking for a product code.

I assume your laptop came with a TRIAL version of Office which has now
expired. You either need to buy a licence, (or more cheaply) buy a
retail copy.

It sounds like you probably have a trial vesion of the software that has
expired or being activated.

The consensus here seems to be that locked software means the trial has
expired. Several posts have noted the software is behaving like it is expired
when it was just installed.

What should a user do who has just downloaded, installed and activated the
trial yet MS Word is locked and will not unlock?

By the way, excel works fine. Also, per a previous post I attempted to
activate twice. No joy. When I do Alt-F, I and select Activate, it says the
trial is good until March 31, 2010.

Please anyone:
How can this obvious MS Office bug be fixed or worked around?

Thanks,
jdc

When you installed it, was your PC set to the current date and time? Was a
trial version installed on it previously?
