I have two computers (Dell Dimension 8100 & Acer Aspire 9500 [Laptop]) both
have Windows Xp Home SP2 OS.
Both computers have three printer drivers installed (Epson Stylus Photo 870
and R300 plus Kyocera Mita FS-1010KX).

All the printers are connected via a USB Power Hub, which I move from one
computer to the other as the need requires, all the printers produce a "Test
Document" from Printer Properties without problem, from both computers.

My problem occasionally occurs with both computers and all printers.
Printing a documents from IE, Word, PhotoShop etc. sometimes results in an
error msg "This document failed to print ......etc..................Click
here to open the print queue etc.", I have followed this path several times
without locating the cause of my problem.

When I go to the Printer Properties / Ports, I see the allocation of USB
001 Epson 870, USB 002 Epson & USB 003 Kyocera FS1010. The "Device Manager
/ Ports (COM & LTP)" shows ECP Printer Ports / LTP1.

Presently, I am able to temporally clear the problem by un-plugging the
printer's USB plug and immediately re-connecting it. I approached the
Kyocera Help Desk and was informed that this is a bug within the MS OS and
is well documented. I have been to the MS website and cannot find any
documentation on this problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Derek,

I had exactly the same problem and spent many frustrating hours looking for a solution. I think I've found one that works for me--I hope it works for you too: uncheck the "Enable Advanced Printing Features" option in your printer's Properties window (Printers--?(choose a printer)-->Properties-->Advanced).
