Things disappearing

Whenever I click My Computer or any other folder on my desktop
everything disappears momentarily and then reappears. I can then access
the folder fine for a short while, and then the problem repeats itself
shortly afterwards. It's incredible irritating.

it sounds like there are limited resources avail, possibly do to low ram or
alot of the ram(memory) and cpu(processing time) is being used for other
resources. Are the results in safe mode the same?......
