The Views in Word 2003

In Word 2003, when you go to Normal View there is a horizontal bar after the
cursor, which I think is called a line marker, not paragraph marker, it looks
like the underscore character. How can I turn this off ?

Switch to Print Layout view, otherwise you are stuck with it. It marks the
end of the document.
