Regarding Error 1517, Windows online Help says "No user action is
necessary," yet Download Notifications seems to recommend running this UPHC
service.
I'd like to know whether this is a "one-time only" procedure or it becomes a
permanent background "service" running during every shutdown.
Like a lot of other posters to this ng, I see the error logged in the Event
Viewer after every shutdown. However, I don't detect a particularly slow
shutdown.
Do the MPVs recommend downloading and running the UPHC or just leaving well
enough alone?

Shut down Dreamweaver before you shutdown your machine.

It looks like CCAPP.EXE has it's fair share of crap listed as well.

CCAPP.EXE is part of Norton AntiVirus.

Looks like two losers to me.

Wesley,
I do shutdown Dreamweaver before I try to shut down. For some reason
Dreamweaver does not completely shut down. I am wondering if Dreamweaver is
trying to get to somesite and my firewall is blocking it?

In JD <[email protected]> hunted and pecked:
Regarding Error 1517, Windows online Help says "No user action is

UPHC service.
I'd like to know whether this is a "one-time only" procedure or it
becomes a permanent background "service" running during every shutdown.
Like a lot of other posters to this ng, I see the error logged in the

Do the MPVs recommend downloading and running the UPHC or just leaving

Thank you for answering my questions so clearly. I see that I will adding an
additional service--permanently. Since I don't notice a particularly slow
shutdown, and since Microsoft Support says that I can safely ignore the
warning, my inclination at this time is to just leave well enough alone.

UPHC service.
I'd like to know whether this is a "one-time only" procedure or it
becomes a permanent background "service" running during every shutdown.
Like a lot of other posters to this ng, I see the error logged in the
Event Viewer after every shutdown. However, I don't detect a particularly
slow shutdown.
Do the MPVs recommend downloading and running the UPHC or just leaving
well enough alone?

I don't recognize Dream Weaver, but I do run Norton AV. I take it that in my
case it is just the ccapp.exe that is the culprit. However, my shutdown time
is still only around 20 seconds. How long does it take your system to shut
down?

uphclean.exe runs as the User Profile Hive Cleanup service. Always.

If you see a lot of Userenv/1517, Userenv/1524 or Userenv/1500 errors in
the
Event Viewer, download and install the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service.

This decreased my shutdown time a bunch. Takes any where from 10 to 20
seconds to shutdown. I recommend the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service.

Paul,
You might check Msconfig and find that Dreamweaver is running a "background"
program that does not get shut down just because you close the main program.
I've found that many applications do that by putting their background
programs in the Startup folder of the Programs Menu or by adding a Run line
in the registry. In some cases (Real Player, for instance) this background
program is not essential to the running of the main application and many
users choose not to have it run automatically when Windows boots. [That is
NOT the case with ccapp, which is an important part of NAV.]
BTW, as an experiment, I shut down ccapp (using Program Manager) before
closing Windows and found that my total shutdown time was 14 seconds. My
"normal" shutdown time is 25 seconds, so it takes Windows an extra 11
seconds to shut down ccapp.exe--hardly a big deal as far as I can see. I
don't know how much time Dreamweaver takes, however.

I do shutdown Dreamweaver before I try to shut down. For some reason

It looks like CCAPP.EXE has it's fair share of crap listed as well.
CCAPP.EXE is part of Norton AntiVirus.
Looks like two losers to me.
