"The system cannot find the file specified" for all email attachme

I'm using Outlook 2003, and have for years. A few days ago I tried to open
an attachment, just as I've been doing since 2003, and got a popup that said,
"The system cannot find the file specified". I get this for all attachments,
and it's really annoying, particularly since I've been in this business for
26 years and can't figure it out! Does anyone have a fix for this? I'm
guessing that a recent Microsoft update is responsible.
