Win Xp SP2
Win2000 domain server

I am trying to view my network neighbourhood with no luck. every time i
click on "view workgroup computer" an error message comes up telling me that
the machine is not able to connect to "workgroup" and that "the specified
server cannot perform the requested action".

I know that network neighbour works on other XP machines with the same
settings and i also can use the "net use" command to map drives to other
machines. In fact through dos i can view all machines on my network but i
cannot see them thru network neighbour hood.

Can someone please help me

make sure computer browser is running and enable the file and printer sharing. any errors in the event viewer?

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from the problem
computer, and from 2 of the properly working ones, so we can diagnose the
problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
carefully (download browstat!):

It turns out that it was an issue with a windows update. when i installed the
newer replacement update and restarted the machine it now seems to work.

thanks

That's good to know. Do you remember the specific update? Others might have
your problem, and might appreciate knowing.
