The selected area keep growing!Help!

The selected area keep growing when I click a cell or
press keys to move around. Even when I start excel from
beginning, it does the same thing. I have tried the F8
functin from the Excel help and did not work. Does anyone
know how to solve this? Thank you.

Is EXT showing in the status bar (towards the right side)? If so, does F8
toggle this on and off? It should do - if not, is your keyboard working
properly?
