The Pest has arrived.

There has already been too much of it in the soc. newsgroups and woe
be the day it discovered this newsgroup. Killfile will not help as
many people respond to the totally OT drivel, many times without
snipping.

Unfortunately more pests follow the orginal one.

A pity.

I really hate to have to post this, but it's actually quite simple to
filter most of the spew by simply killfiling all posts with the follwing
in their *subject lines*:

India
Hindu
Muslim
Terrorism

As new topics get added by the trouble makers, simply look for other key
words that are unlikely to appear in subject lines for messages which
are on-topic and create filters for them.

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett or Doc (who uses sock puppets)
for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware,
demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware, spyware, time-limited
software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.

I also added:

zion*
china
islam*
moham*

Still doesn't get'em all. Added about 17 individual personas that
never appear in regular ACF posts and that seems to have gotten it
down to about 2-3 posts per day. I can live with that, and add more
if necessary until the insanity ends.

Also filter on the cross-posts. That is, cross-posts to more than two or
three groups at the most are generally OT spam.

Using XanaNews one can 'Bozo Author' before adding filters. This will
colour offenders headers to one's choice. The default is yellow text,
so the headers become less obtrusive.

It is quite a good newsreader as well. Nice interface.
