the page cannot be displayed

I have Windows XP. I am having problems getting to
certain web pages. For example: I can connect to ebay's
home page, submit a search and get a item listing page,
but then anytime I try to link to any of the items on the
page I get the "the page cannot be displayed" message. I
can connect to these pages with my other computer,
(Windows 98) so I know it's not the web page's problem. I
can't connect to Yahoo, at all, but there are many sites
that I have no problems with. I decided to try to find
the answer on microsoft's site. I can connect to the main
microsoft page and then to the support page, but when I
try to connect to the microsoft update homepage, I get
the same "page cannot be displayed" message. I downloaded
the fix for the recent worm blaster last week (before I
had trouble connecting to the site!) and I've "de-
virused" my computer, but there's definitely something
messed up here. Any ideas?

What kind of an answer is that? I understand that you
are refering to hackers and virus writers but I don't
understand how it applies to this problem. I have been
having this problem since day one with XP and I am virus
free. Nobody is arguing we just want to know the cause
and cure!

Hi Joanne. I am having the same problem and would like
to hear from someone who knows the exact cause and cure
as well.
