the name of my columns in excel changed from A, B, C.. to 1, 2, 3...
now because of that it is difficult for me to read my formulas... how do I
change the name of the columns back to A, B, C, D,.....???

Tools>Options>General tab, uncheck R1C1 Reference style

Tools|Options|General|Settings...deselect R1C1 reference style

Somehow you have turned on R1C1 reference style. In Excel 2007 to turn it
off: Office Button/Excel Options/Formulas/Working with formulas. Uncheck
R1C1 reference style. In previous versions of Excel this will be under
Tools/Options. But I'm not sure just where.
