What a strange thing to nick

Can just imagine when he gets banged up with all them hardened criminals..

'So what we all in for then?'

'Murder'

'Bank Robbery'

'Embezzlement'

'Grievous bodily harm'

'I stole a jar of marmite'

Last orator suddenly wondering why it's all gone quiet and is the recipient of several icy stares...

And on that note - A Poll.

Love it or hate it?

Love the stuff!!!

Actually I think I know the reason behind the 50 nicked jars of marmite, it's because the damn stuff is so expensive, even a tiny jar cost me £2.14 in Tetco's the other week, large jars cost a lot more..

Well I never :)

I am reminded of that expression about people residing in houses made of glass.......

You are now officially a wide open target ;)

As for Marmite, has always been a big fave of mine too :)

And I just knew there'd be one wiseass who'd vote 'What Is Marmite'

Carry on :)

Erm there was a serious amount of sarcasm in my comment to Crazylegs. As for been an open target, wll I have been since I joined this forum and I have made it open and clear that my spelling is absolutely shocking...:thumb:

lol, 'k, 'k.... I was just a trifle gobsmacked, is all :D

Listen, I never take the rise out of people's spelling and when I have time on my hands I often correct spelling mistakes in people's posts, yours included old son ;)

Yup, that wiseass would be me. Virtually unknown here (Mrs. Google tells me you can buy it in some ethnic stores, however). Never tasted the stuff. I've tasted haggis, though. And kidney pie.

Oh  I never thought of that. Bugger.

Well, it's a sort of savoury spread made from yeast and spices that you either love or hate, usually.

It's normally eaten spread on savoury biscuits, bread or is especially good on hot toast.

Can also be used to compliment gravies, stock, soups and casseroles.

Yum yum :)

White man speak with forked tongue. Yuk spit I'd rather lick me own bum than eat Marmite. :p

Urmas I'll send you a jar if you want, you can amaze all your chums with your new found culinary treasure.

OK, now I'm curious...

Gonna have to buy some basmati and spices this weekend; will check if my favourite Injun market carries the stuff.

Meep.

Marmite on Hot toasted Crumpets cannot be beaten..

I know this as a friend of mine "who's a bit like Sexy bex and only eats marmite now and again" was round mine and I gave hime 2 hot crumpets with Marmite dripping from them, he turned his nose up at them but then succumbed to his hunger pangs 30 seconds later, after the first bite he looked at me and mouthed "lovely" then consumed the other crumpet in 2 big bites, then said another 2 would,'t go amiss. We ate a whole packet of crumpets between us in under 5 minutes..

I converted him bigtime as he's always got Crumpets in his cupboard and funny enough theres always a jar of marmite next to them..:D

Mmmm I beg to differ. Marmite spread just right on a few slices of bread, with nice grated cheese. Stick it under the grill..When ready and cheese is nice and sizzling, a splash of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce. Now thats a hard one to top. :thumb:
