My new XP machine displays this message whenever I try to access the
netweork. I have three machines on the network. The two older machines have
no trouble communicating each other. When I try to ping from the XP machine
to itself it times out. It can ping at least one of the other two machines.

I do not have a device I can create a network setup disk on. Network setup
has been run only on the XP machine. THe other machines run Win98 and
WinNT4. Also I set the IP address to 192.168.0.1 to fit the existing IP
addresses.

Does anyone know what causes this error message or what the server list is
and what creates it?

Thank you

you may have a name resolution issue. have you enable NetBIOS over TCP/OP?

Philip,

The server list is a browser issue.

First check for misconfigured / overlooked firewalls.

Ensure the necessary network components / service are present and started.

Next, check for LSP / Winsock / TCP/IP corruption.
